| GORDIE HOWE |
| Retired from the game after the 1970-71 season because of arthritis is his wrists. The Hockey Hall of Fame waived the three-year waiting period and inducted Howe into the Hall that very fall, but Howe returned two years later at age 45 to play in the WHA with his sons Marty and Mark. He then played for seven more seasons including four WHA seasons with more than 30 goals. In his final NHL season, 1979-80 with Hartford at age 52, Howe still managed to appear in all 80 games, score 15 goals and was a +9. Howe was the first Honoured Member to play in the NHL
